JUMP Math is a registered charity that operates as a social enterprise. JUMP Math derives a major portion of its income from sales of print and digital program resources, and teacher professional development. Its programs are primarily sold to school districts, schools, and teachers. Income earned from sales is re-invested into the organization to further the mission. JUMP Math is recognized as a leading social enterprise and its founder as an acclaimed social entrepreneur.
Egerton Ryerson Award for Dedication to Public Education
John Mighton received People for Education’s Egerton Ryerson Award in November 2016. The award is given once annually to honour Canadians who have been outspoken in their advocacy for strong public education. Other recipients have included former Prime Minister Paul Martin, former Ontario Premier Bill Davis, Roberta Jamieson, Executive Director of Indspire, Justice Murray Sinclair, and Sheldon Levy, Ontario’s current Deputy Minister of Advanced Education and Skills Development and former President of Ryerson University.
2016 WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education) Awards
JUMP Math is one of the six winners of the 2016 WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education) Awards, an initiative of the Qatar Foundation. This is the second win for a Canadian organization since the founding of the awards in 2009. The WISE Award recognizes JUMP Math for its work in helping students learn and love math across Canada, Spain, Bulgaria, and in the USA—where its new U.S. Common Core Edition offers CCSS-aligned lessons for grades K–8. John Mighton, JUMP Math’s founder, has been named as one of Schwab Foundation’s Social Entrepreneurs of the Year 2015! The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship was founded by Professor Klaus and Hilde Schwab to promote entrepreneurial solutions and social commitment with a clear impact at the grassroots level. Professor Schwab had previously created the World Economic Forum and built it into the foremost global community of world leaders in business, government, academia and civil society committed to improving the state of the world. The World Economic Forum and the Schwab Foundation work in close partnership to provide social entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase their important role in today’s society.

JUMP Math was presented with the Social EnterPrize Gold Winner Award by Trico Foundation at the Social Enterprise World Forum in Calgary, Alberta. John Mighton was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year for Canada in November 2014, a unique special citation awarded to an entrepreneur whose achievements have driven large-scale social change and improved people’s lives. For over 20 years, Ernst & Young have celebrated entrepreneurial leaders.
