About the REACH Community Fund
The REACH Community Fund will support Canadian community organizations engaged in promoting school success for marginalized children and youth who are at-risk of not reaching their academic potential.
REACH is short for Resource Essentials for Active Community Helpers. The REACH Community Fund will support non-profit and charitable organizations' delivery of one-on-one in-school and after-school tutoring programs, homework clubs, and other community programs fostering academic success.
Successful REACH partner applicants will receive student workbooks, tutor guides, and tutor training (if the partners are located in the target communities), as follows:
- New Student Essentials workbooks for grades 3-4 (level B), grades 5-6 (level C) and grades 7-8 (level D), which focus on the foundational skills and knowledge covered in grade-specific curricula;
- Complementary Tutor Essentials guides for levels B-D, which offer guidance on
helping students be successful in mathematics and at school using JUMP Math
principles and resources; and
- Tutor training delivered in target communities for volunteers associated with the community partners.
Who Can Apply
- Non-profit and charitable community organizations that are
delivering tutoring, mentoring, or homework clubs to marginalized children and
youth in grades 3-8 throughout Canada; and
- Schools that have a community volunteer program for tutoring outside of the classroom.
In the inaugural year of the Community Fund, organizations in the following locations will receive training and resources:
- National Capital Region
- GTA
- Greater
Vancouver
- Vancouver Island
- Calgary
- Winnipeg
Organizations located elsewhere will receive resources as well as email and telephone support as required.
Applications in particular from inner-city and Aboriginal programs are encouraged.Responsibilities of Community Partners
- To work with JUMP Math to evaluate the effectiveness of using JUMP Math in your program;
- To provide feedback to JUMP Math on the usefulness of the
resources; and
- To provide testimonials from tutors and students about their experience of the JUMP Math program.
