After the Introductory Unit

Where to go once your child has completed the Introductory Unit Using Fractions

Once your child has completed the Introductory Unit Using Fractions, we suggest moving into one of JUMP Math's grade-specific workbooks.  The workbooks cover the full Ontario curriculum, and provide excellent practice on their own, or they can serve as a support to what your child is learning in the classroom.

Our grade-specific materials are entitled Workbook 1, Workbook 2, etc. Our workbooks correspond with the Grade levels in Ontario.  For example, Workbook 4 is for students in Grade 4. JUMP has strategically decided not to name our workbooks by grade, so as to preserve the self-confidence of those students working below grade-level.

You should choose the workbook you decide to purchase based on your child's current level of proficiency. In other words, if he/she is in Grade 6 but is operating at a Grade 3 level, then they should start with Workbook 3. We suggest purchasing one set of workbooks (Parts 1 & 2) at the appropriate grade level.

If you child is working at or at or a little behind grade level, we suggest you purchase the corresponding books, as they contain review material that goes back 1-2 years.  If your child is behind 2 or more years, we recommend purchasing a workbook that is 1-2 levels below.

Detailed information about the grade-specific workbooks can be found here.
