JUMP Math Through The Math Minds Research Lens

Date:

Tuesday, July 28, 2020 - 20:00 to 21:30

Building on the "Introduction to JUMP Math" webinar, we dive deeper into teaching strategies from the Math Minds Initiative, an 8-year collaboration with researchers at the University of Calgary.  The 'structured inquiry' strategies, applied to every JUMP Math lesson, amplify the learning for the range of students in your classroom.

Summer Workshop - Day 1

Date:

Wednesday, August 19, 2020 - 08:45 to 15:30

Summer Workshop with Gael James and Donna Prato

Day one will be an introduction that takes an intensive look at the components of JUMP Math: Teacher Resources, Assessment and Practice books, Digital Lesson Slides, Mental Math, and Number Talks, and how they work together to develop confidence and skills in both teachers and students. We will also look at the supporting research and philosophy that underpin this math resource. We will finish the day with learning some of the JUMP Math games and activities that can be used across all grades.

For the second day we will spend the morning exploring assessment, bonus questions, and extensions, before diving into a deep look at the components that make up JUMP Math lessons. You will have time to start planning your lessons for the start of the year. In the afternoon you will have a little more time to plan lessons for the fall, and then we will look at problem solving in JUMP Math. You will finish up the day by creating your year plan, leaving you ready for a wonderful and successful year of teaching math.

Teachers are welcome to sign up for the first day, the second day, or both days. If you are new to JUMP Math or have never attended a JUMP Math PD before it is recommended that you sign up for both days. Sign up with a friend using the code BRINGAFRIEND10 to receive 10% off the registration fee.
