Board of Directors
Anne Evans has extensive experience as a social entrepreneur, private sector management consultant, senior executive and nonprofit trustee. Formerly a partner with the MAC Group (now Gemini Consulting) she was also Executive Officer/Administrator of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. She has consulted to and served on the boards of a variety of nonprofit organizations, including as board chair for the Levine School of Music. In 2001, she entered the world of social entrepreneurs, co-founding an organization (Kenya Education Fund) to support secondary-level education of nomadic children in Kenya. At Ashoka, Anne has worked on partnerships and new revenue models and is currently engaged in an Ashoka joint venture to bring connectivity and financial inclusion to underserved areas of the world. She also works to build changemaker faith communities across many faith traditions. A native of North Carolina, Anne received her undergraduate degree at Wellesley College, and Masters in Public and Private Management from Yale University's School of Organization and Management as part of its Charter Class.
Emma Barnes Brown. Emma is the Chief People Officer of Agero, a Boston-based tech firm providing services to the automotive and insurance industries. Prior to joining Agero, Emma has held a variety of HR leadership roles in both Canada and the U.S. She was the Chief Talent Officer at Vistaprint (now Cimpress), where she was responsible for HR and corporate strategy globally. She was the Chief Administrative Officer at Koko Fit Club, where she was responsible for HR, finance and board/investor relations. Earlier in her career, Emma was a founding partner of the Leadership and Organizational practice at Monitor Company and a Director on Monitor’s Board. Emma earned her MBA from Harvard Business School. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce and Honors Bachelor of Arts (Mathematics/Economics) from Queen’s University in Canada.
Sam Evans. Sam is currently the Senior Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship at the McCormick Theological Seminary, in Chicago. Prior to that, Sam spent many years with the YMCA, as both a volunteer YMCA board member and member of the national leadership team. He involvement with the Y began as a volunteer in Salina, Kan., where he ran his family's grain elevator business. He joined the national board in 1973 and served as board chair from 1987 to 1989. Sam joined the YMCA’s national staff in 1993 and served in many roles, including acting CEO in 2006. As a member of the Y-USA executive team with oversite of 150 employees and a $22M budget, his areas of responsibility included Marketing, Communications, Washington Advocacy office, International and Resource Development. His international responsibilities included oversight of the Jerusalem YMCA and partnering with YMCAs in 120 countries.

Dr. John Mighton OC - Founder. John Mighton is a mathematician, best-selling author, and award-winning playwright. John completed a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Toronto and was awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) fellowship for postdoctoral research in knot and graph theory. He is a Fellow of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences, has taught mathematics at the University of Toronto and lectured in philosophy at McMaster University, where he received a Master’s in Philosophy. John is intimately involved in the innovation and development of JUMP Math programs, is frequently consulted as an international thought-leader on math education, and represents JUMP Math at conferences and in the media..
Ken Aucoin - Chief Executive Officer Ken is an accomplished leader in the charitable sector and has held leadership roles with local, national and global charitable organizations. Ken was the Chief Executive in Canada for the Movember Foundation. Prior to that role, Ken was VP of Fund Development at Habitat for Humanity GTA, and the VP of Development at Indspire. Earlier in his career, Ken worked with post-secondary institutions including University of Toronto, Ryerson University and The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences. He is an active volunteer having co-founded the LGBT Giving Network and sits on the Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Toronto Chapter and is on the Advisory Board of C Magazine, Canada's contemporary art magazine.
Carol Davies - Vice President, Marketing & Communications. Carol brings 20+ years of experience in strategic, integrated communications and marketing across both private and non-profit sectors, having achieved results in education, the arts, affordable housing, business, youth services, and entertainment. Throughout her career, Carol has been guided by a desire to improve life for others in the community. Carol holds a Master of Journalism from the University of Western Ontario, an Honours BA from University of Toronto and a Masters Certificate in Marketing & Communications Management from Schulich School of Business.
Claudia DeSimone - Vice President, Development & Strategic Partnerships, Canada Claudia is an entrepreneurial leader, mentor, and changemaker. For more than 15 years, Claudia has validated and launched innovative solutions to improve lives, communities, and systems across sectors. She got to know the JUMP Math team through Ashoka’s global network of social entrepreneurs, where she led partnerships for Canada and scaled two education programs (Ashoka U and Start Empathy) designed to nurture students’ skills and potential to become changemakers. Claudia holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University and a Master of Environmental Studies from York University.
Sol Kasimer - Special Advisor to the CEO. Sol has an extensive background in the non-profit sector. He was previously Special Advisor to the CEO of Imagine Canada and National Advisor to The Learning Partnership. He has been the CEO of YMCA Canada, Altruvest Charitable Services and the Montreal YMCA over his distinguished 35 year career. Sol was a founding member of the Voluntary Sector Roundtable and co-chaired the Capacity Joint Table with the Federal Government. He has been a Director of the Public Policy Forum; a member of the Conference Board of Canada’s National Council on Education and volunteer Board member of Portage a substance abuse rehabilitation program for teens. Sol holds a BSc. in Psychology from McGill University and an MSc. in Human Development from Purdue.
Catherine Lathwell, GPA, CGA - Interim Vice President, Finance & Administration. Catherine is agraduate of the University of Toronto with distinction and has a background in management and full cycle accounting. She has not-for-profit training as well as experience as an independent board and audit committee member for publicly listed companies.
Kevin Linder - Publisher. Kevin completed an MSc. in math at McGill University before entering the publishing industry. As JUMP Math's publications manager, Kevin is responsible for managing curriculum writers and production staff. He also manages publishing and distribution of JUMP Math's classroom resources. He has worked in publishing for 24 years, including 14 years in educational publishing. Before joining JUMP Math in 2008, Kevin was a senior nonfiction editor at House of Anansi Press, the publisher of several of John Mighton's books.
Mary Sadleir - Vice President, Outreach. Mary has 30 years of education program sales experience and manages JUMP Math’s team of Outreach Managers. She is responsible for all Outreach activities, including program sales, teacher professional development and teacher support. Most recently, Mary served as Director of Sales for McGraw-Hill Education (Canada), where she was responsible for annual revenue of $20 million. Mary graduated with a BA in Psychology from Queen’s University.
