Meet Our Outreach Team!

Amy Helmstetter, Senior Teacher Support & Outreach Manager
Amy Helmstetter - Outreach ManagerAmy embarked on her teaching adventures in 2001. After teaching everything from English as a second language to dance in the public schools, she eventually became an elementary classroom teacher in N. California. As a classroom teacher, Amy used JUMP Math resources and saw firsthand how the lesson structure helps teachers engage even the most reluctant learners. She saw an opportunity to expand her reach by joining the JUMP Math team in 2012. Since then, Amy has developed her skills as a total renaissance woman on a mission to help teachers and students improve their confidence and skills in math. For a few years, Amy left JUMP Math for a stint in a private publishing company only to find that it is more fulfilling and inspiring to work for JUMP Math with its caring, mission driven, skillful leadership. Having landed in Pittsburgh, Amy loves exploring the city’s parks with her husband and two little boys. Contact Amy.

Annie Chern, Teacher Support Specialist
Annie Chern - Teacher Support SpecialistAnnie dreamed of being a teacher since she was ten years old…but mathematics was the last thing she imagined teaching! However, in the years tutoring and teaching in various public, alternative, and private schools, math education was not far from her mind as she developed her teaching philosophy: What engages students? What builds confidence? How do students approach challenges? She joined JUMP Math part-time in 2011 while completing her Masters in Child Study & Education, helping to develop the Digital Lesson Slides from the Teacher Resources. Working deeply with our lesson plans, she realized that effective teaching needed to not only offer students a chance to consolidate their learning, but also opportunities to be excited by it. It was a natural next step, then, when she joined JUMP Math full-time as a Teacher Support Specialist and began supporting educators in using our resources, sharing her own excitement in helping teachers build confidence and engagement. Annie lives in New York and prefers even numbers over odd. Contact Annie.
